We offer several types of system assessments that can be used individually or combined to provide insight into the firm’s business and operational situation. A proper assessment helps ensure that proposed solutions address systemic opportunities for sustainable performance improvement. The four diagnostic tools we use are:

Practice Based Assessment

We identify a project or organization’s actual processes and practices and compare them to established reference models or "best practices." These references include the CMMI, ITIL/ITSM, IEEE12207, PMBOK, etc. This type of assessment requires the judgment of seasoned professionals with broad range of experience within the IT industry in order to accurately interpret the models in the context of the specific organization and the goals of the projects in question.

          Causal Analysis

Traditional quality techniques such as Root Cause Analysis can be applied in certain situations. The ability to directly link performance deviations with the underlying systemic causes helps ensure that the client sees measurable positive results.

          Quantitative Benchmarking

Many, if not most, systems development and acquisition organizations live with high demands and sometimes unrealistic expectations. We believe the discussion of performance objectives should be moved from that of perception to one of quantitative understanding. Once quantified, performance can be compared to business needs and a decision can be made on a course of action necessary to bring performance in line with objectives. We offer the ability to compare your results to an industry database of similar projects to help set reasonable goals.

Change Readiness Assessment

Once you have identified opportunities to improve performance and the necessary changes, implementing them without loss of productivity or of key resources can be a challenge. We have tools that help identify barriers to change so that you can implement new practices at the lowest cost.

Practice Based Assessment Causal Analysis Quantitative Benchmarking Change Readiness Assessment Canateo consultants understand that every organization is a unique complex system.
